(English text)
Music Composed by Jerry Goldsmith.
Jerry Goldsmith received his very first Oscar nomination for his score for John Hustons 1962 film Freud. An utterly brilliant score, Freud gave Goldsmith the opportunity to psychologically probe the human mind. He merged his own musical style with the Vienna school of Berg, Webern and Schoenberg to produce an agitated and thoroughly captivating work. Without question one of the most important scores of Jerry Goldsmiths career, there were even cues from this score which found their way (much to Goldsmiths chagrin) into Ridley Scotts 1979 classic Alien. Freud follows the career of the famous doctor (Montgomery Clift) as he leaves his work in Vienna to study hypnotherapy in Paris with Professor Charcot (Fernand Ledoux). After marrying (Susan Kohner) he goes to work with Dr. Joseph Breur (Larry Parks) to treat a young woman (Susannah York) and a young man (David McCallum) whose neuroses form the basis of Freuds major theories and lead him to focus on analysis in place of hypnosis.

Lyric
Say, where did I see this guy?
In red river?
Or a place in the sun?
Maybe the misfits?
Or from here to eternity?
Everybody say, is he all right?
And everybody say, whats he like?
Everybody say, he sure looks funny.
Thats...Montgomery Clift, honey!
New York, New York, New York, 42nd street
Hustlers rustle and pimps pimp the beat
Monty Clift is recognized at dawn
He aint got no shoes and his clothes are torn
I see a car smashed at night
Cut the applause and dim the light
Monty's face is broken on a wheel
Is he alive? can he still feel?
Everybody say, is he all right?
And everybody say, whats he like?
Everybody say, he sure looks funny.
Thats...Montgomery Clift, honey!
Nembutol numbs it all
But I prefer alcohol
He said go out and get me my old movie stills
Go out and get me another roll of pills
There I go again shaking, but I aint got the chills
