Del rodaje de
Raintree County (El árbol de la vida, 1957) se conservan muchísimas fotografías. Quizá sea el rodaje de Montgomery Clift más fotografiado. Al iniciarse el rodaje, había interés por la vuelta al cine de Monty tras tres largos años de ausencia y por coincidir de nuevo con Elizabeth Taylor. Pero como se sabe, durante el rodaje Monty sufrió su accidente y pese a las promesas del estudio, en el plató y los alrededores de Danville (Kentucky) pululaban los paparazzis y los fans asediendo a Monty que apenas podía recuperarse.
Esta secuencia de fotos son previas al accidente como se aprecia en el rostro y muestran la gran complicidad entre Monty y Liz: Bromeando y acogiéndolo ella en su regazo. Él lleva la camiseta de rayas que luce su personaje en la carrera al principio de la película.
