Aún me queda mucho por recopilar. La parte de las obras de teatro y de las películas está un poco estancada pero poco a poco este blog, se convertirá en el ambicioso objetivo con el que nació: ser un referente en castellano de la vida y obra del gran actor Montgomery Clift.

Un libro de Monty chico

Si hay algo que me enternece de Monty Clift, es su etapa de niño. Caracterizada por el desarraigo que vivió y su estrafalaria infancia y al mismo tiempo por las vivencias extraordinarias que tuvo en Europa que le proporcionaron una amplísima cultura.

En Internet se subasta esta novela, The Golden Age de Kenneth Grahame (el autor de El viento en los sauces), que parece ser que leyó Monty de niño en el verano de 1929 (tenía 8 años) según la anotación a lápiz que lleva en el interior. Fue a parar a lacasa de Libby Holman donde parece que se ha encontrado:

Éste es el texto que acompaña a la subasta:

This is a 7-1/2" X 5" hardcover book The Golden Age by Kenneth Grahame published in London in 1925. The first page is signed in pencil script "E. Montgomery Clift Le Touquet Paris-Plaza July 1929". It is known that (Edward)Montgomery Clift spent a good deal of his childhood in Europe and he would have been 8 years old in July 1929. I believe Le Touquet was a resort. This book was given to a relative of mine many years ago while he was staying at the former mansion estate of Libby Holman in Connecticut and came from the large library there. Libby Holman was a very successful entertainer of the 1930s who worked with Monty on the New York stage and was a close personal friend to him. I cannot verify if the signature is Monty's or a family member. I have researched Clift's signature and it appears to have changed over the years(especially after his auto accident) and he signed documents with varying degree of neatness. The book does have an interesting provenance and anyone with more information contacting me would be welcome. The book and signature itself are in very nice complete 6.0 Fine condition. The signature is clear and not faded and the page is undamaged with only some light tanning as a defect. Although I can make no definitive claims as to it's authenticity, this is possibly a rare early signature of a brilliant and iconic American actor.

This is a brand new pillowcase, imprinted with the image shown in this listing. It will fit a standard sized pillow, about 22" x 33" in size, and the image is approximately 8" x 10" in size, imprinted on the middle of the front of the pillowcase. Those are the mundane details. Here's what sets this pillowcase apart...

The imprinting process used is called sublimation. This process requires specific pillowcases - mine are the softest and coziest you'll find - I'd compare them to your favorite t-shirt texture. Once you have this fantastic pillowcase, we use specialty inks and imprint them onto the fabric at high temperatures which literally imbed the ink into the fabric of the pillowcase. This process insures that your image will not fade away, wash off or... Die any other form of miserable death.

It's UV resistant too, so you could sit it in the sun and it would not fade. They are also washer and dryer safe.

One final detail about the pillowcase... It's made by the company responsible for the moisture wicking technology that a lot of sporting companies are now using. To put it simply - it pulls moisture away from you so that you stay dry and comfortable. This is a nice added bonus considering the sizzling images on these cases!

Last, but not least... I'm not sure I'll be carrying these for long. I have a few hundred in inventory and I may not offer more after that. The cost of this very high quality product makes it very difficult for me to offer it at a price many discerning ebayers consider to be reasonable. So, with that in mind - if you see one that you want, don't wait, you may not get a second chance. As with my other items, these can be customized and personalized.
